The GLC Book Club will  discuss The Triumph of Seeds: How Grains, Nuts, Kernels, Pulses, & Pips Conquered the Plant Kingdom and Shaped Human History,  by conservation biologist Thor Hanson. This book is available in a variety of formats.

Hanson, a Guggenheim fellow and winner of the John Burroughs Medal for Nature Writing, pursues his subject with the humor and liveliness of a storyteller and keen eye of a scientist.  In telling the story of seeds, he deftly weaves together evolution, ecology, and human history. He takes us to the around the world and through time deftly telling the stories of seed adaptations that have allowed them to persist even in extreme environments and through local catastrophy.
